So many of us have a pet that’s a part of the family! We just love to include our well behaved pets when we can, whether at the Downtown Farmer’s Market, a dog park, and sometimes when we’re out for a bite to eat. Not only is this enjoyable for us humans, but it helps make your dog relax, and become more social and well behaved when they have repeated experiences around other people and pets.
In some cases, clients of ours have no choice but to bring little Fido when going out to eat. One of our recent buyers closed on her house late on a Friday afternoon, but her furniture didn’t arrive the next Wednesday, so she and her two dogs were holed up in a hotel for all that time. And that was after driving for three days from Minnesota! Ugh! We figured they’d all go stir crazy if they didn’t get out of the hotel for part of the day, so imagine her relief when we were able to give her a short list of a dog-friendly restaurants, but our knowledge on the subject was limited.
We’re used to seeing pets with their owners enjoying a bite to eat at the outdoor cafes and restaurants along Main Street and the Hillview area, but how tickled were we to learn that some places, like Sam Snead’s American Grill actually have a Doggy Menu? At Marina Jacks they not only encourage you to include your dog at the outside patio area a beautiful view of the bay front, but they put out a large sign welcoming you and showing you the pet friendly entrance along the marina!
So we were quite happy when Mart discovered Sarasotadog.com, a great source for “all things dog” in Sarasota. From the best dog parks, vets, groomers, diet tips, adoptable dogs, breed profiles, meet-ups and more, Sarasotadog.com is the place to go for pet lovers. I wish we’d known about this fabulous website before.
Below is SarasotaDog’s list of dog friendly restaurants in the area. I haven’t been to all of them, but I’m guessing all the pet-friendly tables are at their outside dining tables, due to health department rules as well as a courtesy to those diners who would rather not dine where pets are present. Pet owners and their horizontal friends are typically welcome to dine outside while the inside tables are reserved for vertical diners only!
